Book Review of This Magic Moment.
This Magic Moment was a relaxing and light read.
There are 2 reasons for this. The first is the main protagonists. Christina is not only unconventional but refreshingly self-assured in her way. She goes brownie hunting at balls and thanks her new groom for providing her with a haunted house in which to live in. She does not worry about what others may think of her behaviour but does want Harry to love and believe in her talents. And Harry is just the man for Christina. Down to earth and practical, he does not believe in any of Christina's or her family's supernatural gifts at first. But neither does he ever make fun of them. He simply accepts it as a wonderful fancy of Christina's, going so far as to promise to preserve a part of his old home for the spirits only Christina sees.
The other reason I liked the story was Christina's very large and extended family. All of whom are interfering and determined to stand with their family, even a newcomer unknown to them. Watching them rallying around Harry and putting whatever resources they had at hand, both practical and witchy ones to work, was certainly entertaining.
The only grievance I had was Christina's behaviour at times. While she is able to read auras, she is also rather obtuse. In fact, for nearly the first half of the story she doesn't seem to realize the dire financial straits they're in and often seems to be worrying Harry unnecessarily. When Harry finally makes her understand the trouble they're facing, I felt she was far more concerned with keeping her ghostly friends rather than helping her husband save their livelihood.
My conclusion : Borrow for a read if you're looking for some light reading.
